The Schuman School of Music is an independent Brussels music school that guides people of all ages and backgrounds in their musical development.

We believe that music is for everyone. That's why we want to make music education affordable, inclusive, and modern – including for children and young people from financially vulnerable families. Although it's proven that music education significantly boosts creativity, self-confidence, and social skills, it often remains out of reach for those who need it most. We want to change that.

Our school offers a personalised, flexible, and contemporary alternative to classical academies. Students choose their own instrument, follow one-on-one lessons with no entry barriers, and collaborate in bands or workshops. Our teachers are active musicians who bring practical experience and passion directly into the classroom.

We are at a turning point. Our operations have grown significantly in recent years, and we are currently running at full capacity in our current location. Demand is rising, and it's time for the next step: opening a second location in the heart of Brussels, near the Rue du Midi / Zuidstraat. This new location will have eight fully-equipped practice rooms and will become a vibrant hub for music, connection, and collaboration with local partners like music stores, community centres, and schools.

At the same time, we are using this expansion to implement structural social accessibility: in collaboration with the Flemish Community Commission, we are building a straightforward discount system so that young people from financially vulnerable families can also access affordable music lessons. This makes the new location not just a physical expansion, but also a crucial step in our mission to make music education accessible to everyone.

For these ambitious yet achievable plans, we need your help.
We are seeking an interest-free loan of €90,000, intended for:

• the renovation and furnishing of the new location;
• the purchase of instruments, sound equipment, and teaching materials;
• hiring additional staff to guide more young people.
